Did you know that there were several types of blogs to create? Maybe one of them can fit into your plans.
- Podcasting – This type of blog provides a web feed of audio files (although, increasingly, people apply this term to any video and other media available for anyone to download). “Blogcasting” “rsscasting,” “webcasting,” and “audio blogging” can also be terms for downloading or streaming audio and video media types. To learn more, check out Adam Curry’s site, as he is considered a founding father of podcasting.
- Audio Blogs – This type of blog houses music files that are available for download. Also called an MP3 blog or music blog, one of the first widely known of these blogs is Fluxblog, created in early 2003.
- Video Blogs – A video blog (or vlog) uses video as its primary content. Since the release of the new Apple Video iPod and the availability of iTunes Store’s video content, iTunes uses the term video podcast to describe a video blog. See Videoblogging.info for information.
- Photo Blogs – A photography blog (sometimes called a picture log, a photoblog or phlog), is blog that contains user-taken photographs who profile/diary their lives through photographs (and text at times). Flickr is a popular place to share photos.
- Mobile Blogs – or Moblogging consists of content posted to the Internet from a mobile or portable device, such as a cellular phone or PDA. Check out Winksite for more.
- Wikis – A type of website that allows users to add and edit content and is especially suited for constructive collaborative authoring. See Wikipedia who started it all.
- Personal Blogs – In common speech, the term blog is often used to describe an online diary or journal. See LiveJournal for some examples.
- Project Blogs – A blog used for internal project management, also called a plog.
- Pop-Up Blog – A blog used for a finite project or event. For example, the 2006 Torino Olympics may be blogged in its entirety and then abandoned.
- Business, Company, or Corporate Blogs – A blog that used to promote one’s products, services, technologies, and more. Contact us and we’ll get you started.
